Application Information

Before applying, please read through the entirety of this entire page! It covers your standard application information, our rules, how we interpret Blizzard’s RP server rules, as well as a bit more information about what we expect while you’re in the Tribe – and we’ll know if you don’t read them all ;) I realize this is a lot of information, but it helps us to recruit those of a like mindset for our members - and makes sure you're on the same page as us.

The treatment of inactive members: If you have not logged onto your character for a certain period of time, your character will be removed from the Tribe. If you ever become active on the character again, you are welcome contact one of the officers, and you will be let back into the Tribe. If an alt hasn't been played in over a month, we assume you're not interested in playing them right now, and will be given an invite once you pick them up again.

What We Are: When applying, keep in mind that we are a mature guild and we expect you to be mature as well. We’re typically laid back and enjoy having fun – we don’t want any petty drama or arguments. It’s not enjoyable to us, or the Tribe. Please fill out your application in detail, and let us know you are serious about the guild and your character.

Guild Bank: We are dedicated to having a full bank and encourage all members to make use of it. However, you may only withdraw once you begin depositing. Anyone can deposit, but withdraws are limits by rank, new members may request items from the leaders. Please send an in game mail if you would like an item.

Recruitment is currently closed for the following: Characters who are under level 30 and Death Knights who are under level 70.

Leaving the Guild: We require private notice that you are planning on leaving the guild, and why, out-of-character. Please contact Anjasa or Jumwa directly in game or through a private message on the forums. Be respectful and leave on a positive note – there’s no need to burn any bridges, and we certainly won’t tell you ‘no, you can’t leave’! If someone is respectful through leaving, it reflects very highly on their character, regardless of your reasons for leaving.

We never try to defame people who leave – your reasons are your own and the only time we fully disclose the reasons of leaving are when we have reasons to believe that the Tribe may be hurt by not knowing the full reasons. If you have questions on this, please feel free to ask!

Keep in mind that with the Cataclysm changes, leaving and being removed from a guild will be a much more serious and personal decision. We in the BTT are looking forward to this change as we feel it will encourage members to discuss their problems with us more openly and to allow us to make changes and modifications when required.

Being Removed from the Guild: Removing a member is never a pleasant task, and one that we have never taken pleasure in. No matter what problems or issues there might be, you no doubt had made friends and acquaintances during your time with us.

We try to speak with members about any problems that we feel there might be in their fitting in, however at times we may feel that your goals or personality are just not a good match. We try to remain respectful when removing people from the guild, and maintain empathy with the member we are removing.

Because of this, we have never (and will never) try to harm your roleplay with anyone in the guild after your removal, and try to maintain a good ‘working relationship’ if nothing else. We don’t hold petty grudges, and we don’t ban or discourage current members from remaining friends with you.

If you feel there are any policies that have been missed, or would like to discuss any of the above, feel free to discuss it with us in game or through PMs.

Tribal Rules

The Tribe is run on one basic principle: Respect.

Respect for Members:

If you have a problem, talk to the person you have a problem with, or an officer. We have people with experience in being a mediator of disputes. We don't have any tolerance for people who let problems fester, complaining to other members about their problems, and taking no steps to resolve the issue(s).

This is a video game - something we are all doing to have fun, to relax after difficult or stressful days, to find companionship and friendship with people who you like to be around. If you let in game problems fester, suddenly not only are you not having fun, but neither are the people you shoulder your problems onto.

Please try to give more than you take. If you're constantly asking for help or items without giving any in return, it shows a lack of respect for others time and/or gold.

Respect in RP:

Make sure to not take control of another person's character without their consent. Use your best judgment when deciding if a particular plot is too upsetting to the other person (ie if someone says they’re uncomfortable with how the RP is going, you’re expected to stop or change course). Open communication is key.

Griefing other people’s RP by being annoying, spamming emotes, or standing on top of people as they RP intentionally is grounds for removal from the Tribe.

Respect in PVE:

Don't take items that you haven't fairly won or fought for (ie ninjaing items in a dungeon).

If you have a problem with a group member, talk to them privately.

Griefing is not acceptable. If you have a question on the use of the term griefing, please speak with us in game.

Respect in PVP:

Dishonourable behaviour in battlegrounds and arena such as cheating or using hacks is taken very seriously.

Spitting, laughing or mocking another player because you beat them or they beat you is not positive behaviour.

Killing alliance quest mobs to harass them, attacking a player while they're engaged in a quest or a duel, or just repeatedly making yourself a nuisance to them is not acceptable.

Killing enemies that you will NOT get honour from when they pose no threat for you is not acceptable. Only when they attack, or resurrect attacking members should you ever try to kill them.

Other Notes:

Keeping up to date of weekly Tribe events is required of all members; events are posted on the in game calendar. Weekly meeting attendance is expected and all members online at the time of the meeting are required to attend. If for any reason you're unable to make it, it is the responsibility of members to keep abreast of announcements through the boards. We post minutes (aka chatlog) of every official meeting.

It's also important to be aware of the RP Server Rules as we, as well as Blizzard, expect adherence to them.

Roleplaying Server Rules

/say, /yell - IC. 100%. Please note that using parenthesis in this channel is also not acceptable and should be avoided whenever possible. If you're with a group of people and need to leave, excuse yourself in-character, or whisper the person/people you're speaking with. This is not only our rules, but Blizzard’s, and we take it very seriously. All breeches of this rule will be dealt with via a reminder for the first time, and if it persists, you may be removed.

/party, /raid - If you are with Tribe members, these will be out-of-character with all in-character interactions taking place in /say. Though Blizzard’s rules state otherwise, this is the standard for all groups.

Public chat channels - You are to be respectful and considerate in these channels. Your name is linked to this guild, and therefore you represent your friends. Please refrain from using internet speak, caps lock, insulting language or excessive short hand in these channels, as it misrepresents the kind of people we are.

Officer channel (OOC) - Here, respect is of the utmost priority. You will remain respectful to all members in the channel by not insulting, divulging secrets, spreading rumours, speaking slanderously about someone, or treating someone poorly. Any person who disrespects another person in this channel will be dealt with individually.

All chats - You are to be respectful, kind, and not show any OOC signs of prejudice based on ethnicity, sexuality, gender, etc.. If we hear that someone was insulted because of one or more of those reasons, it will be dealt with very severely – you will likely be kicked without warning. Hatred like that is not tolerated, or supported, by the Burning Tusk Tribe or its members OOC.
